Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Panama and transfer to Hotel

On your arrival at the airport in Panama City (PTY), our driver will welcome you and will transfer you to your hotel. Transfer time 30m approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Try Panama Centro 3* for one night – 1 Standard room. Meals: None

Day 2: Panama City Tour & Miraflores Locks – Flight to David and transfer to Boquete

This morning, meet your guide and start your sightseeing expedition of Panamas amazing capital which was founded in 1519. The captivating backdrop of skyscrapers, noble mansions and green hills will surely fascinate you. The tour begins with a trip to the old town Casco Antiguo. Here you find some of the oldest architecture and buildings of the modern city. The area is known as Casco Viejo or Casco Antiguo. During the tour you will see many unique colonial buildings. Some of those are still largely original and others are nicely and colorfully restored. The historic Casco Antiguo is a UNESCO World Heritage site and has become the center of art, design and cultural development. Many new bars, roof top terraces, restaurants and hotels have opened here. Later on a drive down the Causeway will surprise you with an amazing view of the Panama City skyline before taking you to the Miraflores Locks. Here you will gain a first insight into the inner workings and dimensions of the famous Panama Canal. The viewers terrace offers a unique view of the locks and the ships a through the locks on their way to the Pacific or Atlantic. The Panama Canal is one of the most important waterways in the world. Each year around 14,000 ships are transiting, that is about six percent of the worlds trade. In its museum you will learn many interesting facts about the Canal. Duration: 4-5 hours approx. ~ Difficulty: Easy Following this interesting tour, we transfer you to a domestic Airport to take a local flight to David Airport. On arrival, a private transfer will bring you to the small mountain village of Boquete. Flight duration: 1 hour approx. / Transfer David Airport to Boquete: 1 hour approx. Day 3: Agro-Organic Farm Tour

On this half day tour, we take you to a private reserve secluded in the mountains of Boquete, strategically located in the mountains of Buenos Aires, Jaramillo. We will visit an organic production focused farm hosted by their owner in a family environment. An ideal experience to enjoy hiking to the waterfalls inside the farm, be part of the daily tasks of the farm by feeding the animals, harvest in the greenhouse the organic products and taste a delightful meal prepared exclusively with the organic ingredients produced in the farm. Finish your great day with the explanation and taste of the Farm’s organic produced coffee – an enchant to the palate! Day 4: Transfer to Paso Canoas Border and transfer to Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

This morning, we will transfer to the border of Paso Canoas (transfer time is 3 hours approx.) After immigration formalities, another representative of our company will pick you up at the pickup point and provide a private transfer to Manuel Antonio, famous for its National Park, time at leisure upon arrival! Transfer time: 3.5 hours approx. Overnight at Hotel Costa Verde 3* for three nights – 1 Studio room Meals: B

Day 5: Manuel Antonio National Park

The Manuel Antonio National park is one of the most famous in our country due to its wide variety of flora and fauna specimens. The park itself boasts 3 different trails that vary in grade from flat to very steep. On this Manuel Antonio tour, you will take is a flat and picturesque trail looping through the park making your course approximately 2 miles long. One of the highlights of this Manuel Antonio tour is that the park is home to 3 of the 4 existing monkey species in Costa Rica. Half way through the hike you will make leisure stop at the third beach located within the national park. You will have approximately 20 minutes to rest on the beach or play among the waves if you so choose. Throughout the hike you will be able to observe sloths, birds and reptiles as well as admire orchids, butterflies and tropical trees. Day 6: At leisure in Manuel Antonio

Day at leisure to enjoy the amenities of your hotel. There are plenty of optional fun, nature activities on land and water to choose! Day 7: Transfer to Monteverde

Today a shared van will transfer you to the highlands of Monteverde, a quiet town that was founded about 40 years ago by a small group of conservation-minded Quakers who were looking for a peaceful place to live. Transfer time: 3.5 hours approx. Overnight at Hotel Trapp Family Lodge 3* for two nights – 1 Superior room. Meals: B

Day 8: Trapiche Sugar Mill Typical Tour and Hanging Bridges

This morning, visit a project of a Costa Rican family, located 4 km away from Santa Elena town. Here you will enjoy a tour through the farm where different types of crops are cultivated, like: sugar, coffee, banana, arracache, or oranges. The guide will explain you the entire coffee process starting with crushing, drying, peeling, and finishing with roasting. After the coffee process, a typical cart with oxen will take you to the "Trapiche" where you can see the "saca de guaro" -sugar cane licor-, the process of sugar cane that begins with grinding, and finishes until the brown sugar is obtained. During this tour, you will have the opportunity to taste the different derivatives of the sugar cane, and also enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. This is the best way to get to know a real Tico family and its way of living in this area. Duration: 3 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy In the afternoon, enjoy a relaxing adventure in the hills of Monteverde rain forest. In this tour you will see the Monteverde Cloud Forest from a bird's perspective while walking on the hanging bridges that are suspended from tree to tree. These bridges are some of the longest one in the country, providing almost 2 miles of walking and exploring. Each bridge is of varying lengths from 50 to 170 meters long and up to 60 meters high. Our naturalist guide will tell you all you need to know about Monteverde, its nature, and its natural history. Your guide who has a keen eye for seeing hidden creatures, will point out wildlife and be able to name the different kinds of birds that fly by and the different kinds of interesting exotic plants that you will see. This is a great tour for everyone, from children who are too young for ziplining or people who want to take their time to soak in the beautiful cloud forest. You will love it! Day 9: Transfer to La Fortuna via Lake Arenal

Breakfast and time to leave Monteverde to reach La Fortuna, home to the iconic Arenal volcano. This the most adventurous and faster way to reach La Fortuna. You will be picked up at your hotel and will be transferred to the dam in Lake Arenal where you will enjoy a 30-45 minutes boat journey to the opposite side of the lake enjoying great views of Arenal volcano and the unspoiled and tropical Lake Arenal. On arrival you will be then transferred directly to your hotel. Transfer time: 4 hours approx.~ Overnight at Hotel Lomas del Volcan 3* – 1 Standard bungalow. Meals: B

Day 10: Chocolate Tour and La Fortuna Waterfall Hike

This morning, enjoy two a combo tour: a nature hike to the La Fortuna Waterfall and a fabulous chocolate tasting tour! On a fun drive up a country road will take you to the breathtaking 150-ft La Fortuna Waterfall. Once we arrive to the base of the extinct Cerro Chato Volcano, we’ll hike down to the bottom of one of the largest waterfalls in the Northern Zone. The hike is about 300 steps to get down a well-maintained path, and 300 steps to get back up! It’s quite a good workout! While you are down there, and if conditions warrant, you can swim in the crystalline pools that flow from the impressive waterfall and take advantage of some beautiful photo ops! When you are relaxed and refuelled, we will head down the road to the cacao plantation to learn about the chocolate making process, and get to taste some freshly made chocolate! Learn the entire process and history of chocolate making, you’ll be impressed to find out what REAL chocolate looks and tastes like. The best way to end a fun tour. Day 11: Arenal Volcano National Park Hike and transfer to San Jose

Today, visit the Arenal Volcano National Park, an iconic volcano! We’ll trek for about 1.2 miles through different scenarios. You will also find an incredible viewpoint close to the volcano where you’ll find yourself stepping on lava flows turned into stone and views of the Arenal Lake and the landscape around as no other spot in the area. Your nature guide will share with you catching and interesting information about the place, the hiding fauna among the trees and bushes and of course about this impressive volcano. Duration: 3h.~ Difficulty: Moderate Following this interesting hike, we will transfer you to San Jose, the capital city of the country to spend your last two nights in the country. Transfer time: 3 hours approx. Overnight at Hotel Rincon del Valle 3* – 1 Deluxe room. Meals: B

Day 12: Irazu Volcano National Park and visit to Cartago

We will take you on a short and pleasant drive from San Jose to the Irazu Volcano, located in the Cordillera Central just a few kilometers from Cartago. We will ascend the breathtaking summit of the Irazu Volcano, passing all types and forms of vegetation, from coffee plantations, to ferns. The trip leads up to a spectacular view of the massive crater which is home to a lagoon with a mystical green hue surrounded by jagged rocks. On a clear day you can actually see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans! After an exciting tour on the volcano, we will descend to the historical city of Cartago. We will visit the mysterious ruins of the old Parish, and also the beautiful Virgin of the Angels Basilica that has large vaulted ceilings and exquisite examples of stained-glass windows, a rich display of carvings, statues and other pieces of art. Duration: 6 hours ~ Difficulty: Easy to moderate Overnight at Hotel Rincon del Valle 3* – 1 Deluxe room. Meals: B

Day 13: Transfer to San Jose Intl. Airport

Depending on your flight schedule, we transfer you to the Intl. Airport in San Jose to take your flight back home. Transfer time 30 minutes approx. ~ End of services. Come back soon to Costa Rica, Pura Vida!
